Learner to Driver

Getting your licence starts here

Learner to Driver helps you get ready for the South African learner's licence test. Practise with quizzes built around the real test, see where you went wrong, and walk into the testing centre knowing what to expect.

We built it because most people prepare by reading the K53 manual over and over and hoping it sticks. Testing yourself works better: you answer, you get it wrong, you find out why, and next time you get it right.

What you'll practise

The learner's test has three sections, and you need to pass each one on its own. Our quizzes cover all three:

  • Rules of the road: right of way, following distances, speed limits, overtaking, and what the law expects of you.
  • Road signs, markings and signals: regulatory, warning, guidance and information signs, road markings, and traffic signals.
  • Vehicle controls: what each control does and when to use it, for the licence code you're going for.

How it works

  1. Pick a quiz. Each one is timed, like the real test.
  2. Answer the questions. No peeking at the manual.
  3. Get your score straight away. Go back over the questions you missed and learn the correct answers.
  4. Do it again. Retake quizzes until the answers come without thinking, then move on to the next one.

Between quizzes, you can read our study articles for extra tips.

Study anywhere

Learner to Driver works on your phone, tablet or computer. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app, so you can fit in a quick quiz in the taxi, on your lunch break, or the night before your test.

A note on what we are (and aren't)

Learner to Driver is an independent study tool. We aren't affiliated with the Department of Transport, the RTMC, or any licensing department or testing centre. We work hard to keep our questions accurate and up to date, but the official K53 manual and the National Road Traffic Act always have the final say.
